Distribution/habitat : all temperate seas around the world and sometimes even tropical seas. A fan of deep waters, it can be found at depths of over 30 metres. It is found in Australia, South Africa, California and the Caribbean. It can also be found in the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of Hawaii, from Japan to the Philippines, and from New Caledonia to New Zealand. It has even been observed off the coast of Alaska.
Diet: while young sharks feed exclusively on fish, the great white shark feeds exclusively on large fish such as tuna, swordfish or tarpon, squid, sea turtles, seals and dolphins.
Weight: 680 to 2000kg (680 to 2000kg for males, and 1000 to 1900kg for females)
Height: 4 to 6m long
Lifespan: 40 to 73 years
