MAURICE is a French brand of chic accessories, but above all a reasoned and sustainable brand for dogs and cats.
We develop and manufacture all our products locally, giving priority to quality and short supply chains. Respect for nature and the environment is essential for us and we strive to minimize our carbon footprint using French and European supplies as much as possible while working with local craftmen with unique know-how and expertise.
As slow fashion enthusiasts, our accessories are designed to last over time.
Eco-responsible brand
We select materials that are kind to animals and respectful of the environment, and we try to minimize our carbon footprint by favoring short circuits and French and European sourcing as much as possible:
We chose natural leather because it’s a material that’s “available” today, sustainable and biodegradable, unlike polyurethane (PU) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) which, come from fossil fuels.
– We favor recycled and upcycled materials meeting the EU standards. Our leathers come from recycled food waste and are selected with the utmost care. They come mainly from 2 tanneries based in Spain that meet European REACH standards. Mostly vegetable-tanned, they are French or Western European leathers, all meeting European quality standards.
– We also select high-quality upcycled leathers to which we give another life and with which we tell another story through our creations.
– Vegetable-tanning is a unavoidable.
– Our buckles are all brass and mainly manufactured in France. A small percentage is made in Italy and Belgium.
– 60% of our cotton is organically sourced in Egypt. Our non-organic fabrics come from India and Japan.

Choosing natural leather allows us to offer beautiful dog and cat accessories that last over time, made from biodegradable “available” materials. We don’t use exotic leathers or microfibers, an equally polluting non-biodegradable synthetic alternative that releases micro-plastics into the environment.
We don’t pretend to be perfect, but we try to be as fair as possible, consistent with our values, attentive to the world around us, informed and above all far removed from greenwashing. We’re already thinking ahead and testing innovative alternatives (without plastics or leathers) that pave the way for creations that are more respectful of animals and the environment.
Our communication materials are all printed on recycled paper.
Our cardboard packaging is also recycled and FSC certified. The black ink used for printing is vegetable-based. Everything is manufactured in Europe and is fully recyclable and biodegradable.
The cotton pouches we use to protect some of our products are organic and fair trade certified. They do not contain any chemical products. We do not use plastic in our accessories.
