Pan paniscus is the scientific name of the bonobo. In bonobo communities, female alliances play an important role, and social bonds help ease tensions. Native to the forests of the Congo Basin, bonobos are curious, sensitive creatures whose nature both surprises and moves us.

It was this quiet, self-assured gentleness that we wanted to capture in a leather dog lead.

Fully lined and carefully finished, Pan paniscus measures 1.20m and feels wonderfully natural in the hand. Comfortable to hold, it combines understated elegance with a character all of its own. Crafted from high-quality upcycled leather, it gives a beautiful material a second life — something we particularly love, as it allows us to tell a new story.

The MAURICE logo is hot-stamped in gold foil, while the hardware is crafted from gold-tone brass. Its ring also provides an elegant attachment point for the matching Saiga tatarica waste bag pouch, keeping everyday essentials close at hand.

Available in four nature-inspired colours: vibrant, sun-kissed Pink Dahlia; the distinctive, soothing aqua green of Lagoon Breeze; the soft, reassuring beige of Dune; and the warm, luminous brown of Maple Wood.

Pan paniscus clips onto the gold-tone brass D-ring of our leather harnesses or collars. These can also be adorned with our Erinaceus europaeus brass ID charm or our decorative Manis javanica charm. The result is elegant and beautifully coordinated, without ever being too predictable.
