Despite its status as man’s best friend and a full-fledged family member, dogs are still not completely considered as such. Organizing vacations remains a real challenge for all dog owners, and a stressful moment for animals, many of which are abandoned on the eve of departure.
In light of this continuing scourge and given the increasingly important role that our dogs have in our families, new concepts are being developed daily. Discover 4 DOG FRIENDLY places in France! Here is everything you need to know…
First stopover for relaxation and well-being in Loire-Atlantique
Head for the seaside at the Château des Tourelles for a well-being, pleasure and relaxation break. More than a spa hotel, the Relais Thalasso Pornichet – La Baule offers you a stay to recharge your batteries in a unique setting facing the sea, almost with your feet in the water! This place is remarkable, the thalassotherapy and expert treatments are incredible and the breakfast buffet to die for. But that’s not all: this four-star hotel is Dog Friendly! Your best 4-legged friend will not benefit from a treatment in the spa with you, however the hotel has reserved a small memory foam mattress and two bowls for dog food and water during your stay! A very nice attention that deserved a little wink from us in this article.
DOG FRIENDLY Vendée
Let’s take a trip to the Atlantic coast in the southern Vendée region to a 3-star campsite called Le Camping Le Port de Moricq, 7km from La Tranche-sur-Mer. This campground offers a unique concept for family vacations with DOG FRIENDLY facilities dedicated to the well-being of our 4-legged furry friends! There are doggy showers, a doggy snack bar with a wide choice of dishes, a doggy park with its agility course, a doggy bar, a doggy store and a doggy pool/swimming area! As you can see, this campground has everything you need to ensure that your dog enjoys an unforgettable vacation. As for the beaches, you will find more than twenty along the Vendée coastline that are open to dogs.
Did you know… Although the Puy du Fou does not accept dogs, the park offers a dog boarding facility where you can leave your dog while you visit the park.
Nice, on the French Riviera, voted the most DOG FRIENDLY city in France in 2021
Selected as the most DOG FRIENDLY city in France in 2021, Nice has overtaken Montpellier, which held the top ranking for several years. Every year, the “30 Millions d’Amis” magazine ranks French cities based on criteria, such as access to green spaces, dog parks and transportation.
What is a DOG FRIENDLY city? To top the ranking, Nice has 12 dog parks and more than 700 dog waste bag dispensers. While we are on the subject, we recommend our CACATUA ALBA leather waste bag dispenser!
In Nice, there are also dog-friendly areas on Carras beach and Lenval beach.
The Jura region: a 100% natural and outdoorsy destination
The Jura is a great place for recharging your batteries in the midst of mountains and natural waterfalls. Here, you can enjoy stunning walks through the forests and around lakes, as well as canoe and paddle trips with your dog! In the mountains, there are still a few rules to follow depending on where your adventure takes you. And don’t forget, hiking with your dog is not something you can improvise.
In Europe, Italy has the highest number of DOG FRIENDLY accommodations, followed by Germany and the Netherlands. France is in 4th position, and Great Britain is in 5th.
